Two examples given are Southwest Airlines and Lotus Development Corporation. While both officially and practically put their employees first, Southwest also includes the concept of providing enhanced customer service by ensuring they have happy employees. Lotus, at least in times past, just wanted happy employees. The fortunes of the two companies reflect what superficially seems to be a minor divergence of attitude.
